Isasi Diaz
A brief history of Isasi Diaz.
Th Isasi Diaz, Russell Kirk, and Barbara Ehrenreich.
First off, we have three authors that have three different theories.
Now, let start off with Isasi Diaz and Barbara Ehrenreich.
Isasi Diaz thinks that our cultural background is what makes us unique, but Barbara Ehrenreich thinks a person’s culture does not make you special. Right there is a disagreement! If these to got together they would have to call security!
Back to business; Ehrenreich thinks that culture is not important, and that we should leave it behind and embrace the new. Isasi Diaz thinks that culture is very important, and that if you do not have culture, you are nobody. Isasi Diaz says that Hispanics should have there own “sub-culture”, but Barbara Ehrenreich thinks that everybody should be treated the same. Now, we will move on to Isasi Diaz and Russell Kirk. Russell Kirk would think that Isasi Diaz is crazy because he says that all humans need order to survive. Isasi Diaz’s idea of the “separate but equal” and “sub-cultures” are not exactly orderly ways of life. Russell Kirk is very fond of order, so it would make sense that he would think that Isasi Diaz is crazy. Isasi Diaz would not like Russell Kirk because he says that all people should meld into a single community and put aside differences.
Russell Kirk says that even ants and bees work together, so why can’t people from different cultures work together also? Isasi Diaz would say the ants work with the bees because they have to for survival, not by choice. Isasi Diaz says that children should be taught there own culture (e.g. Hispanics) in school, not just American history. Russell Kirk might be fine with that, it is hard to predict. Ehrenreich would not like it because she
Thinks that nobody needs culture, and it would be better if we forgot it.
It leads you to wonder if Ehrenreich would even want history taught in school. I think that she would not, although there is no clear answer. Kirk would say that we need to learn history, so we can better understand the future. I personally think that Kirk is right on this subject. Kirk likes history almost as much as he likes order. I believe that Isasi Diaz and Kirk agree that history is very important, but they don’t agree on much else.
