Karoshi
My view on work.
Karoshi is a Japanese word that means death from overworking. I have always believed that human beings were not meant to spend their days inside of cubicles. I think that statement was originally in a Mike Judge film, but it is true today as it was ten years ago. There is no need for us to die from working too hard. Even in this time of uncertainty and unpredictability, there should be no reason why our leaders and managers at work should stop us from having a little fun. Life should be enjoyed and life should be lived. We need to bring enjoyment back to the work place, and create enjoyment if it never was there initially. Books like “It’s Called Work for a Reason” do not help the average working man/woman enjoy the daily grind. While I understand that no job is perfect, and there are rules and regulations, that does not mean we cannot enjoy what we do. Maybe it is just my artistic nature or liberal point-of-view that is speaking, but I strongly believe that we all should enjoy life and not have to work ourselves to an early grave.
