Letting Go is Not Giving Up!

Have you ever received what you’ve been desperately seeking – right after giving up all hope of ever finding it? The universe is trying to tell you something!

We’ve all heard it a million times: ‘Just let it go!’

Well, it seems letting it go is not as easy as it sounds.

We associate it with giving up. Failing. Losing control.

To desire and to aspire is only human, but to attach all that we are to the outcome of said aspirations – our self worth, our self respect, our psyche and our confidence – is not only counter productive – it can badly affect every aspect of our lives.

Conversely, letting go seems almost impossible. Why? Because we only hold on so tightly to the things which we feel we cannot live without. Power. Control. Money. Ambition. Relationships. Status. Love. Lifestyle. Time.

As individual as each individual.

Attached so deeply that if it were a physical thing as opposed to mental – the fingertips would be white with effort – the hands permanently clutching, grasping. Veins popping.

Wouldn’t it be better to just relax the mental death grip a bit and have some faith that it is still more than enough to support and maintain a healthy balance – IF it is meant to be?

Ask yourself how you react when something doesn’t quite work out the way you had planned. When you don’t get what you’ve worked so hard for. When the best laid plans are waylaid along life’s twisting and winding path.

Does it feel like the end of the world? Do you never fully recover from the blow? Do you run and hide: nothing ventured, nothing lost? Maybe you blame others? Have a break down? Get angry? Shut down? Have an affair?

I think we can all agree that this is not the way to suck the best life out of life. Wouldn’t it make more sense to release some of that killer expectation by accepting that if it is meant to be – your best efforts will be good enough to get it.

If it is not meant to be – NOTHING we can do is going to change the outcome. There will always be factors that are out of our control – and they will shape the outcome of any situation as much as anything that is under our control.

I try to remember that it’s not what life gives me that counts – it’s how I deal with it that matters. Everyone is dealt their share of garbage hands – ya still gotta play ‘em out and move on to the next. I do my best, but, I am often unsuccessful. I try to let that go, too. Lol.

Baggage is heavy. Anger is aging. Just let it go!

So work hard. Do your best. Never give up.

But allow yourself the gift of believing that the outcome is as it should be.

Just let it go!

So true. Nothing ventured nothing gained, but venturing does not guarantee success.

For me this is the BIGGEST key to happiness. Too many people have TOO many expectations and when they are not reached – total frustration and anger.
    Another wonderful article!
