Life is Tragedy
Moments in life can be heart-wrenchingly sad, but a new outlook on life could change that.
Life is tragedy. The ancient Greeks figured that out. Love, or the attempt to abolish loneliness from our lives, is the driving element behind human existence. The important and defining moments in life are created, and during teenage life revolve, around that person who laughs at your jokes and hits you lightly on the shoulder. That’s more important than the soft lips or the sex, if there even is any at that time in your life; the eyes and the smile are the determining factors that create the emotions and the memories that haunt the heart for a lifetime.
Life is tragic, but it depends on the individual’s point of view. As Albert Camus pointed out, Sysiphus has a choice when he reaches the mountain peak: he can despair at his absurd and hopeless situation, or he can embrace the decisions he made that led up to that moment and take pleasure and joy in his labour. Consciousness is what allows Man to see his actions and his situation from different perspectives. This is the secret to happiness. This is the escape from Tragedy.
