M–Theory and the Supernatural

A discussion of the relationship between M–Theory and the supernatural.

One area where M-theory has proved interesting is what it means to the relationship between science and the supernatural. The reason is that M-theory expands the scientific view of reality beyond what was previously considered. It opens the door to science dealing with the supernatural, by allowing consideration of events outside our universe.

The Supernatural and M-theory

M-theory opens the door to a scientific description of the supernatural, by providing a way to model phenomenon from outside the universe. There are a number of purported supernatural events that can easily be modeled this way.

One example is ghosts, under M-theory a ghost could be an image from a neat by brane. Another would be the description in John 20:19-29, of Jesus appearing before his disciples in a locked room. Under M-Theory Jesus could be seen as moving off of our brane through the 11th dimension to which the room would have been open.

These are just two examples of how M-Theory can dale with the supernatural. They are simple cases but they show the power of M-theory in this area. While clearly some purported supernatural events are no more than hoaxes and misunderstand of normal events, under M-theory it is possible to scientifically study the supernatural with a more open mind.

Dose M-theory eliminate the need for God?

It has been claimed that M-theory eliminates the need for God. This claim is based on the idea that there are an infinite number of banes (universes) in the 11 dimensional space of M-theory. This gives them both a way to trigger the Big Bang and to explain the low probability things as of such things as life.

While this gives atheists a way to dismiss God, the claim is not new, just adapted to M-theory. The claim was once was made that the universe was infinitely old and infinitely large. The Bing Bang ended the infinitely old argument but the claim that the universe is infinitely large is still used. This claim just takes the old argument outside the universe where it can forever remain untestable.

Once striped of this atheistic assumption M-theory works well with God. Not only dose it show how God can exist outside the space-time of our universe but it also provides a possible scientific description of the nature of God. Under M-theory is it possible that God could be a conscious, intelligent brane. This may not be the case but it’s a possibility.

The Point is that contrary to some claims, M-theory will not prove or disprove the existence of God. The arguments on both sides will continue, they will just be expanded beyond our universe. In both cases it comes down to faith. Faith in the existence of infinite number of universes or faith in God, but it is still faith.

M is for Miracles

One question often asked about M-theory is what does the M stand for. Suggestions include Membrane, Matrix, and magic. Given that M-theory works well with God and the supernatural another possibility is that M stands for miracle.

M-theory doesn’t eliminate the need for God. In fact M-theory creates new possibilities.

One remarkable possibility is that God controls a universe that has influenced our universe. He has fertilized ours with the consciousness required for the existence of intelligent human beings.

“Religion and science have been brought together by a parallel universe that science is desperately trying to discover.”
