Making Peace with Self
Making peace is about accepting, believing, finding and appreciating.
A lot of people lived in a life full of turbulence not caring whatsoever / whosoever they bumped off or hurt along the way. They live in the fast lane without a nary of other’s welfare. Then somewhere along the way as the process of aging catches up, the physical being begins to tire out/slow down and happiness still so elusive, they decide to make their peace with God (or for those who are anathema to that word – make peace with themselves) and will focus instead on the spiritual aspect thereon, only to discover that therein lies the missing link in their life. The answer to many questions that during those busy younger days they didn’t bother to find out. But still there are some who simply never wake up. They just simply patched up the emptiness with material trappings & sink deeper into funk while continue asking themselves “Surely there’s more to life than this?” But couldn’t find the magical “it”..
The question here is why not make peace with God (or with yourself) now? There’s always this mentality that making peace means having to go to church, pray, repent everyday & being pious. Hey, that’s just not so!
It’s all about acknowledging and accepting certain things beyond our control.
It’s all about believing that somewhere out there is a higher being taking care of us, looking after our welfare and always there for us (we need only to ask)
It’s all about finding that harmony and balance in our life.
It’s all about appreciating our everyday blessings.
So many of us out there had this false concept that by entrusting ourselves to the universal Supreme Being, we are depriving ourselves of the capacity to enjoy life. On the contrary, by committing ourselves to God (Higher being) we are actually just beginning to “live life to the fullest”. Of course not all are ready to embrace this concept, some might even laugh at this very notion always thinking that “it’s a dog-eat-dog world out there”, that it’s all about “survival of the fittest”. Nothing wrong really with that mentality, but wouldn”t it be nicer and more comforting to know that :
You’re really not alone fighting against the odds out there.
That when you’re backed in a certain corner in dire straits, there is actually a way out.
That there is really an answer to every question in life.
As hard to believe as I’m sounding & as idealistic as some of you out there must be thinking about this author, I’m not your scripture reading type of person. I’m sharing all this through 1st hand experiences, through listening to others’ share their stories. They are really not the spectacular, amazing-fairy-tale-true-to-life stuffs. In fact almost all are your everyday occurrences, things that can very well happen to you if only you will open your eyes and heart wide enough to receive. Every chance meeting or accident are not really what you think they are. They are really messages that if we can decipher & discern them accurately & correctly are leading us to where we wanted to be (what we’ve always wanted all along).
So why not start now?
Let’s take that 1st step and chances are when you get warmed up, you’ll tell yourself “Heck, why didn’t I start with this sooner!”
