Moral Values: A Case of Deteriorating Societal Morals

For sure what really happened to our moral values? It can be witnessed that the society has vulnerably collapsed in fostering and displaying moral values. Moral values are ethical subjects that define what is wrong or right.  The value of moral values is being eroded and washed away as the society advances.  Most of the ethical subjects are being relinquished as the society develops.  But why has the society turned against those virtues and goodness that has supported it from the beginning?  There is a substantial assumption and conclusion that the initiators and fosters of moral values have failed in their job.  Man has been overwhelmed by the ability to decide and practice what is good.  Loose moral structures have tarred apart the society and what is witnessed is a natural ‘retaliation’ by nature from poor moral practices. 

For instance, think of the HIV-AIDS pandemic.  What is the major cause for the HIV transmission?  Certainly, it’s out of reckless sexual behaviors.   This is not what moral values advocate for.  In fact, ethical morals show it clearly that it’s not within the acceptance of the society to indulge in irresponsible sex. What about the global warming case? The nations have been polluting the environment, interfering with the Ozone layer.  The nations have been practicing what they surely and clearly know is bad for the environment and the result is now being felt.  It must be re-emphasized that moral settings are there to safeguard and protect the society.

It’s viewed that with the Agrarian, Industrial and Information ages, the world has been transformed significantly.  The surprisingly with these advancements, the moral developments have assumed a totally different deteriorating trend.  The values should have picked the same graphical drifts as the technological, industrial and agricultural developments.  However, instead of attaining a positive ontogeny, the moral values have astonishingly seen the other ‘path’.  The moral ethics subject is diverse and often differs from one region to another and from one group of persons to another.  However, there are moral aspects that are universally and to the common knowledge and understanding of man acceptable by all mankind.

There is a need for a total turnaround of the perception and notions on the practice of moral ethics.  From a personal level, corporate point to the societal perspective, everybody is required to put down the weaknesses of practicing good moral ethics, collect the ‘tattered pieces’ of abandoned ethical values, put them together, build a strong ethical practice background and  refocus on sustainability.  The world will be flabbergasted by how things may turn around when ethical values are instilled back into the society. 

Governments, NGOs, Corporate and individuals must rally behind one another and enhance sound moral values in order to drive the society to a healthy and prosperous life.  Most of the human suffering witnessed today is out of poor practice and disregard of moral values.  It’s now everyone’s responsibility the old and the young to campaign towards a world of moral justification.  Man must learn from experience that when moral values are disregarded, the impacts are deadly.  The best part of it is that, there is room for rectification.  Indeed, if moral values are promoted in the society, there would be enhanced harmonious existence of mankind.  There will be reduced wars, conflicts, adverse weather conditions, diseases, hunger, human suffering and death.
