Negative Thoughts Can be Harmful

Do not let negative thoughts crowd your mind. throw them out in whatever way you can.

We all know that negative thoughts produce negative results; they make us unhappy, yet we are unable to do away with them. Why? The answer is simple; our minds have largely been conditioned to harbour negative thoughts. Anger resentment, apprehension doubt, insecurity, and the like, imaginary or otherwise, dominate our minds most of our waking or sleeping hours. They stay with us all the time. Negative emotions are aggressive; they push positive and passive emotions out and fill our minds with negative and unhappy thoughts. Positive emotions are the product of a cultivated mind. They are gentle and delicate and have to be nurtured and fed with care. We have to teach our children to love and care, to be patient and grateful, to have compassion and understanding. As carnegie has said, ‘gratitude is like a rose-it has to be fed and watered and cultivated, loved and protected,’ and this is where our happiness lies.

Negative thoughts have the tendency to grow and multiply fast and trap us in their harmful fold. One thought leads to another and yet another and it becomes difficult for us to get out of their control. Thinking rationally and being at peace becomes impossible. The best way of handling this situation is to stop  our negative thought process before it gets time to build itself up. The next time you notice yourself contemplating on depressing thoughts, just turn them round and see if there is anything that needs to be done. If yes, make a note of it, set it right, and shift on to more pleasant things. Do not a situation that can be set right keep you unhappy for want of a little effort. And if the situation is such that it cannot be set right just forget it and move ahead. Do not let hopeless situation trap you in its fold
