Have you ever wondered how the earth, river, galaxy, forest, gemstones, rain, soil, sun, moon, and the poles originated? With all our scientific knowledge, we have our own theory. However, let’s have a minute to simply use your imagination to think of the wonder of the earth.

Please bear with me for five minutes.

What if I tell you all of the wonders I’ve listed above are originated from a person? What would you think?

Let me tell you a story, a very intriguing story about how everything on earth came.

In Chinese mythology, it was said that the earth was like a giant egg where everywhere was in dark and chaos. There was a man named P’an-ku or Pangu. He was a very well built and strong man. After a long sleep of 18000 years, he woke up and discovered the earth was dark. He decided to break out the giant egg. Hence, he slashed through the darkness and the darkness began to separate. The light and clear thing inside the egg was rising above while the heavy stuff became the ground. As he was afraid that these two elements were mixing again, P’an-ku lifting the sky with his hands and his feet stood on the ground. Day by day, the sky and the ground are separated with much length. After 18000 years, his body grew 90000km.

Eventually he was tired. As he was dying, every part of his body had become part and parcel of the earth. His breathe became wind and air, his voice became thunder, his left eye became the sun, while his right eye became the moon.

The ancient document written that his limbs turned to be East, South, West, North and his five parts torso became mountains. His blood flowed as river, his muscle formed the land, his hair became Milky Way, his skin formed the grass and wood, his teeth and bones became gold and jade, bone marrow or his essence became precious stones whereas his sweat turned to rain.

That’s how the earth was born according to the mythology. Now, you might have some questions about how human came from. I realized there are numerous version of where human are from on each culture. In the next article, I’ll tell you another story about how humans are from and who created them according to Chinese mythology.
