Philosophy, Could It Interest You?

Honestly, it’s already difficult to explain what philosophy is! Every individual has his own opinion of what philosophy means. Well, the literal translation of the word is “ Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline.” but that doesn’t really give you a good background to what philosophy might be now does it?

Firstly, philosophy is a vast subject and is partitioned in different sections. The most debatable topic which , in my opinion, interest most people is Ethics. In Ethics we describe what is morally right or wrong, what should be permitted or penalized or even, what just sacrifices can we do for our loved ones? Can we decide to legally put them down if they are suffering from very serious pain? This topic is interesting in my opinion because the situations it mentions are very real and we all have different ideas to what might morally make us feel at peace.

There are other sections such as History, Language and Logic. All of which are very interesting and need a huge amount of thought! For example, with regards to Language, could we imagine life without language? Would we be such evolved without this level of language we have reached today? 

A topic which you might find interesting regarding Language might be animal communication. We often take for granted the way communication occurs and the idea of how animals communicate between them barely reaches our mind!

Speaking of mind…Would you know the difference between the mind and the brain? What keeps you alive and what keeps you thinking? What is physical and what is abstract? All these topics which we unwillingly take for granted might be much more interesting than you think.

What might be even more interesting is Ancient Philosophy! The theories found in history of philosophy amazes me so much! It shows you how the thoughts of men changed through evolution. Learning on theories of men who lived centuries ago intrigues me , theories of what the arche’ ( the fundamental, underlying source of the being of all things.) is. 

All these Aspects of philosophy are very interesting and i’m sure most of you out there would like to know more about these topics. You might be surprised how philosophy might change your view on things.
