Strength

How strong are you?

Its hard to stay strong ALL the time. I know, because i’ve always tried to be “the strong one”. The one who had it all together. People like us do a great favor for others and a disservice to ourselves. We allow other to depend on us, but we rarely depend on others. in 2008 i lost my job, my license, and my car. I’m at this point where I have no choice but to rely on the kindness of people i’ve called friends, and some i’ve called associates. I learned something about strength. Strength is not how much you can lift, pull, or carry (literally or figuratively). Strength is understanding that burdens come to all and you bare what you can and know how to be brave enough to ask for help.
There are dependable people in this world, maybe you’re one of them. Maybe you’re not. But know that your strength comes in when someone elses falls short. Sharing the burdens of those you care about is a great display of not only strength but love, but have enough sense to know that despite how “strong” you are, you do not have to BE strong ALL the time. Your loved ones are the for a reason. Friends, family, significant others are in your life to help you be strong.
I’m stronger now knowing I’m not in this journey alone and that the burdens that we all carry through our lives can be carried by others, part of having strength is having trust. Trust in you, and trust in others. Value those close to you. Appreciate them, because when your back gets tired of toting the weight of your transgressions real friends, real family, a true love is always there to pull you along; to carry you when you are unable to hold you head up.
True strength is be strong enough to let someone see you at your most vulnerable point. Its’ scary, but when you see that someone is there to hold you at your weakest moments, you become stronger. You become less vulnerable each time because you are no longer strong…alone. We live in a world of people helping people, so that we may be strong together. Whether its God, mom, girlfriend, husband, or bestfriend… you are not alone in this. Sometimes knowing when your weak is when youre really being strong.
