The Meaning of Life
The reason for our need to know the answer to our existence answered by logic.
There are two halves in a person’s mind. One is responsible for logical reasoning (the Brain), and the other has dreams, creativity, and hope (the Heart). Both of these halves are chosen by natural selection to make a balanced and cooperative relationship. If the Heart is eliminated, then the Brain will see the naked truth of the world. The Heart, however, clouds this truth from us. Why?
The naked truth of the world is the answer to the question of the meaning of life. Based on all the logical reasoning in this essay, it is possible to see through the veil created by the Heart. Life is an insignificant arrangement of molecules in the great vastness of the universe. It is nothing more than another coincidental form of matter that makes up the entire world around us. We are the paper you are reading this from. You are the air you breathe and the soil you stand on. Life has no meaning! All of our knowledge, dreams, and hopes are nothing but energy passing through molecules. There is no purpose for living!
Knowing this, a totally logical human being would see the futility of living and have no more aspiration or goals. He would simple die. That is why the Heart hides this awful, morbid, sorrowful truth from us. It is simply a matter of who lives and who dies. The absolutely logical human will not see the need to reproduce and therefore his genes will not reach the next generation. Those who have a Heart see an illusion of the world that gives them the desire to continue living. The meaning of life, the Heart tells us, is to keep searching for meanings and never stop. There is no way to give up living while the Heart is still active, which it is in all humans. A person cannot simply turn his body off and extinguish his life. Even those who commit suicide are still influenced by the heart. A suicidal person’s Heart is torn between believing that death will be better for it than life and the natural need to continue living. In its confusion, it is able to make the decision to kill itself.
The meaning of life is that there is no meaning, and no more than that. There is no meaning to this essay. It is just a series of molecules on paper that creates a pattern of energy in the molecules of your brain. Everything happens because it happens.
Thank you
Please do not let this article sadden you. You have a heart, which is just how natural selection made you and every other human. Live your life how you Heart and Brain tell you to live it.
