When the Going Gets Tough

Thoughtful prose on today, and every days meaning. Maybe the big question isnt why? Maybe it`s Why not?

I have had a few set-backs in my life and always risen to meet the challenge even if it meant a tactical retreat. We all go through these trials and in many ways they can make us stronger, wiser and better people for it.

Just before Christmas I was made redundant by my local council after just being told I had been successful in applying for a full time permanent position. Great, six weeks to go till Christmas, no job, two kids, mortgage the size of Africa, global financial meltdown, this must be some kind of cosmic candid camera or something. But no.

Looking at what is on offer at the moment it is hard to get exited about job prospects and the immediate future. That is until I look at what I have to offer the world. I have so much to give, so much that can inspire, so much that can move and motivate people. So I have decided to think outside of the box and promote me, just me.

The world is not a reasonable place so why be reasonable with it? Why accept that your credit rating defines your worth in the world? Why let other people’s opinions and judgements influence you if you don’t agree with them. Just because you can’t define your feelings doesn’t mean that they are not looking after you, and your inner perfection. Being reasonable can be capitulation, oh well that`s the way it is, lets just get on with it.

I am following my dreams now and creating something that will sustain my life and life for my family. Its not going to be easy and I may have to sweep streets or wait tables to get there, but it going to happen. It has to. I cant get up in the mornings trying to make sense of it all, asking myself “what am I doing this for”, every day.

Every day should be full of opportunity and hope for us all. Every day we should be able to enrich and enhance the lives of others as well as our own. It is simply a decision I have made not to be a victim of our time, our faceless corporate machine, our laziness, our capitulation. Whatever your calling is, whatever that little voice is telling you to do, don’t ignore it or tell it it is wrong, or it doesn’t understand how the “real world” works. Embrace it and hold it close to you every day. Every day, do something to feed, nurture and enliven it and soon every day will make sense again.

Thank you for letting me share my thoughts and dreams with you. When I am feeling a little lost I think I will come back and read this again, to find my self once more. I hope it can do the same for you.

Very positive. I do think people tend to dwell on what they’ve lost rather than what they’ve gained, and your attitude is inspiring.

The best thing about this article no despair or how life is unfair. You will be a great success with your attitude, good luck
