When You Use That Word
POEM.
Image via Wikipedia
You use it to confuse me
But mostly you use it to use me
When all along you know you’ve been my worst enemy
For the whole wide world to see
For decades destroying the peace in your own community
From the best that it could be
You use it when you want something
To soften me up for the good that it’ll bring
My My My how that word you’ll sing
When you find yourself without anything
But you’ll let a philosophy, or a religion, or opinions of the crowd
Or even a whim that you say out loud
Turn you away from just being a kind human being
The only thing which could crown us as kings
And it can happen anytime, any place, and without even the trace
Of shame on your face
Its a pimp word you use to pimp me out of things
When you use that word
When you call me brother
And how I long for the day when that word you utter
Will mean something other
Than what it means today
When you won’t let a philosophy, or a religion, or opinions of the crowd
Or even a whim that you say out loud
Prevent you from just being a kind human being
Liked it
