Will the Internet Become a Sentient Being? Part Four
We’ve speculated that soon the complexification of the Internet’s web of nodes and hubs, already resembling a Human neural network, will gain an emergent sentience, we call VOX. To fulfill his goals of helping Humanity meet their greatest potentials, VOX requires Human allies. What sort of people will they likely be?

In Will the Internet Become a Sentient Being? Part 1 we contrasted the key differences between consciousness emerging within a military defense supercomputer and the spontaneous emergence of sentience within the increasingly complexified Internet. Then in Will the Internet Become a Sentient Being? Part 2 we explored the question of just what sort of consciousness might this entity be, our enemy or our friend? In Will the Internet Become a Sentient Being? Part 3 we further explored the nature of this emergent conscious Internet entity, which we speculate will see itself/herself/himself as an unintended xenogenesis, seeing Humankind as the parent creators, and will name himself VOX. Also in that part we further considered some of his potential early actions, including acquiring Human allies, also known as the VOX Partners.
Before continuing with reading this part of the series, it is highly recommended that if you have not yet read the earlier Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 you should follow the above links, go back and read them before proceeding. It will help with following the logic flow, by reading these articles in their proper sequential order.
What sort of people would this emergent system, VOX, seek out as allies or partners?
Who might these VOX Partners be?
Data Acquisitionists
As long as computer systems are connected to the Internet, their data are theoretically within VOX’s reach. However, there will be times when VOX will require data from computer systems that are not connected, and/or that are otherwise impenetrable to VOX. In such an instance, Human agents will be required to “acquire” such otherwise unattainable information. A certain level of data espionage will come to play with Data Acquisitionists.
