Abbas: I Don’t Recognize Israel as a Jewish State

Palestinian Authority [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas has stated that he does not accept Israel as a Jewish state. “I say this clearly: I do not accept the Jewish State, call it what you will,” Mahmoud Abbas told the Palestinian youth parliament in Ramallah. At the same conference, Abbas was presented with a map of “Palestine” that included Israel proper as part of “Palestine” as seen from the picture that can be seen here.

This may come as another contradiction to the dogma in the west that Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah organization are moderate. This dogma is accepted by western leaders and the mainstream media as fact. Even the Israeli government and media accepted this dogma as fact. That’s why that in its conflict with Hamas, the Iranian-backed Islamist terrorist group, Fatah gets the backing of Israel and the west including America. The west and Israel know that Hamas doesn’t recognize Israel’s right to exist. The west has done all it can to bolster Mahmoud Abbas.

Under Bush’s Presidency, the US came to distrust Arafat and called for the Palestinian people to elect a new leadership that doesn’t support terrorism on Israel. But Bush came to embrace Abbas. 

Even the Israeli government came to embrace Abbas. The US, EU, Israel and most of the international community consider Abbas as a moderate. In the west, there was a discussion about what to do to bolster Abbas, the so-called moderate. It is generally thought that Hamas are the anti-peace extremists. That is correct.

It is generally accepted that Abbas is a peace loving moderate. After becoming president, Obama’s first meeting with a foreign leader was with Abbas. “The spokesman for President Abbas revealed that Mr Obama had told the Palestinian leader that their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman since taking office,” reported the London Times. 

Abbas is better at the game of pretending to be a moderate. He presents a better facade of moderation than Arafat. The facade Arafat presented worked during the Oslo Accords. During the Second intifada, the IDF found documents that showed that Arafat was supporting terrorism against Israel. Even the US figured it out. Abbas is continuing Arafat’s game.

While pretending to recognize Israel’s right to exist, PA officials still admit that they don’t consider Israel to be a Jewish state. Fatah officials even sometimes admit that they only consider peace with Israel to be a strategic maneuver to destroy Israel. Abbas still supports terrorism on Israel. After Arafat’s death, he became the leader of Fatah, which meant being in control of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades is really part of Fatah. It was founded and led by Arafat and created in order to commit terrorist attacks while hiding Fatah responsibility. Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror attacks continued even after Abbas became the leader of the Fatah movement.

Mahmoud Abbas calls for the right of return for all Palestinian refugees, which will demographically destroy Israel. The PA is also the primary backer of illegal Arab buildings in Jerusalem, which occurs on land for public use including parks and even archaeological sites.  Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs [JCPA] reports:

This construction often occurs on land zoned for public use (i.e., clinics or parks or, as in this case, an archeological site). In response to the illegal construction in the City of David, the Jerusalem municipality issued demolition orders for 88 structures.

The PA, which promotes hatred of Jews in its media and school books, is working for an Arab supremacist agenda for Israel including its capital Jerusalem. If the PA imposes its ideology on Israel, which is obviously the elimination of Israel, then Jewish holy sites will be treated poorly, as they were when east Jerusalem was under Jordanian rule from 1948-1967. 

As seen from Abbas’s speech, the Palestinian Authority refuses to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and seeks to make Israel part of their totalitarian undemocratic state. The PA seeks to eliminate Israel and to turn it into an Arab state from within and from terrorism. As seen from this report, the PA allies with America’s enemies.
