American Politics

America’s two party system of government insures that no one political group will control the country. It’s a good plan but when the country is in trouble as it is now, it’s time for the two parties to work together and forget about politics. This bickering and whining by the Republicans when we are in trouble is a detriment to the health of the country. The Bush administration brought an end to budget rules to balance the budget and gave hefty tax cut to the rich. These, plus other factors including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan plunged the country into the largest financial erosion in American history.

American Politics

America must get it’s house in order, anything else is unthinkable. When Bill Clinton was in office our debt began shrinking to the point that some thought it would be paid off completely by 2010. Them came the Bush Era and the end to budget rules to balance spending, the tax cuts to the rich, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and debt has spiraled out of control. The Bush years saw the largest fiscal erosion in American history. And what happened afterwards was predictable. That fiasco is carrying America down the road to bankruptcy.

The rich can use a little austerity but how will the rest of us manage? How will the rest of the world manage when America is no longer able to stand up for what is right and just? America will no longer be able to fight necessary wars and finances will also effect national security and foreign aid. Facing the fact that a catastrophe is in the near future if our politicians don’t get their act together is not something we want to think about but something that’s unavoidable.

America has always been the dream of oppressed people. A land of freedom and opportunities for all. A place others strive to come to. But what happens when that dream evaporates, as some say it will. It’s what we all have been hearing for months, and we haven’t seen the government working together toward a solution.

Instead we have heard bickering and blame. The Republicans throwing as many stumbling blocks at the Obama administration as possible. To me the last straw was when Obama had to agree to keep the Bush tax cut in for the rich, in order to extend the unemployment benefits. That was a low blow even for the Republicans.

Nobody can sit back and not be outraged by what is going on in the government. It’s time for the Republicans to get on board and cooperate with the Obama administration for the good of the country and everyone. This endless bickering and throwing water on every opportunity that comes down the pike is ridiculous and destroying our country.

It’s time for cooperation and pulling together. Forget about the next election and work with this president to get us out of the hole Bush dug us into. Or else forget about the America we have experienced and read about in the history books.

I personally find politics to be very frustrating mostly because I don’t understand the subtleties and the deal making that goes on behind the scenes.

Maybe a two party system is not the best as it has been shown in my country before where a Coalition might do better, giving a better deal to everyone.

Amen, Ruby. It’s high time for politicians to stop trying to put up this united party front and do what’s best for America.

The Dems don’t wear halos. The last two years proved the levels of their corruption.

A powerful write Ruby. I have a feeling most people are blaming Obama for a mess created by the Bushes hence the miserable showing by the democrats in the mid term elections.

You hit the nail right on the head Ruby if governments would concentrate on what’s best for the country instead of bickering and fighting just imagine what could be accomplished.

The Republicans only care about the top 2% of the nation. That’s very clear. The rest of us can go to hell. And that’s exactly where the nation is headed. How any middle-class or working-class person can vote Republican is beyond me. They don’t care about moral or society issues. That’s the oldest trick in the book, to talk about morality while they give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. The Democrats are no angels, but they do a far better job of representing middle and lower income people than the Republicans do.

You are so right. This country is going to end up in ruins if Congress can’t come together and make decisions that will benefit everyone.

This is a nice information for us non-Americans because what happens in the United States will affect the rest of the world.

That’s a good article but I don’t know that you can blame the Republicans for everything. Look, people (most people) have a conservative and a liberal side to them. And there’s a good reason for that. In order to be able to help out the less fortunate, you have to have the more fortunate. Meaning you really do need someone to look after business’ interests and to keep the business climate friendly. Look, I am a democrat and always have been–but the way we pay for services is through taxes. That means we need to be able to collect tax revenue.

the only reason the country is in trouble now is because the American people were too stupid and voted Bush in for another term… way to reward a terrorist.

I wish politicians can be more sensitive to the welfare of their citizens and not only think of their own self interests.

A good share and topic here Ruby I see they aim to give the poor a tax break hmm… also the super rich well if your poor you don\\\’t have a job you don\\\’t pay tax… where is your break? I can\\\’t understand the rich needing, or getting one, but I guess they are trying to make it look like something for all, but it will only benefit the super rich, and wealthy cheers
