Americans are More Socialist Than They Think
Lets STOP and look at the facts.
Firstly, let me tell you that as a non-american looking at the debate over public healthcare it is very funny how it is described as being socialist while yet, many of the ideas that are being proposed are no different to the existing programs that exist in the US and many other countries around the world.
One example is the highways. In a truly capitalistist world with out “socialism” (as Americans call it) the highways would be run by large corperations charging large tolls to use this roads. That may lead you to the argument that there are already tolls on many roads. However, if you treat tolls like a commodity prices will continue to go up in ways similar to gas prices. The ever increasing tolls on Ontario’s Highway 407 is a perfect example of this.
Unions are another example of the effects of socialism in the capitalist sense. It is after all about the people and not the consumer or the product being produced. That means that everyone gets a decent wage at the expense of product quality or a higher price tag is given to the consumer. Services such as public transit even show this leading to draining money from the public due to these unions so if you think that it benefits you in some way, think of how much more money you can have.
These are just some of the few examples of socialism in America. That said if your an American who claims public healthcare leads to socialism, stop making a fool of yourself for you are secretly a socialist at heart. Join the fight agianst rich companies taking your money, stand up for the common man, and join the rest of the free world on the public health band wagon. Health should be a social service and not a commodity.

Coordinated action against a common threat is not socialism.
