Blind Republicans

Many republicans honestly believe that if a national health service comes into existence it will be the end of a “superior health care system”. The reality is that the private system of health care that exists in the US is not superior or cheaper. The reality, as seen in Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and in Ireland is that a National Health is cheaper and superior. People live longer and get to choose their own doctors for less.

America is a great country. I have had the chance to live and work there for three years. I also happen to be a Canadian who is a Registered Nurse. I have personally spent more than thirty years looking after sick patients. Some were rich and famous; others were ordinary working class people and finally there were those who had never worked and will never work.

I am a firm believer of a national health care system because it is cheaper and better. My opinion is based on my work experience and as a professional nurse in the public and private health systems of the US, Canada, UK and Australia. I have written the following articles on health care.

1. A Health Service for the USA

2. Why the United States needs a National Health Service

3. National Health Care. What is in it for the Nurses.

4. Nurse’s Order: A National Health Service for the people of the USA of the people of the USA.

As an individual and a Registered Nurse I am most concerned about the ill-informed, the uninformed and the profited motivated depriving the American people of their right to health care. Canadians, British, Australians and the Irish live longer because they have national health care systems. Americans believe in free enterprise and freedom more than anything else. They are feeling that a National Health Care System will be too costly. The reality is will be different.

Fox news, its “guests”, The Republican Party and the self proclaimed leader of the right wing Rush Limbaugh are opposed to a health care system for a variety of reasons. The two principal reasons they have advanced for not supporting a National Health service are that the Health Service would cost too much and it will be inferior to the Health Care Americans are receiving currently.

True Republicans are pro-business. I do not have anything against this philosophy. However, when Republicans assume that others do not understand how business is done then I beg to differ. Republicans do not have a monopoly on business acumen and business knowledge. As a matter of fact more academics are Democrats than Republicans.

You are very brave. You will not get a job in a US Hospital. How can you criticize the system which has employed you and paid u thousands of dollars.

The person who wrote this clearly has not read the bill, It is the end of private health care, so before you place ot in a republicans hand and blame them, read the bill.

    Hi Patrick,

It is only a bill. I like your other comments. I am clearly for a national health service and I have thirty years experience to show it is better.

I respect Republican views. President George Bush was a great Republican. One more yaer of him would have seen the impossible.
I love Republican thinking. I am hoping Sarah Palin wins the Republican ticket.

Ok so we need health reform…. its going to cost an exorbitant ammount of money….How are we going to pay for it? Whats the tax rate in canada? Take a look at what all this will cost. The government barely has the money to pay interest on its current debt. Universal health care will bankrupt America. I for one don’t want 70% of my income going to a system that doesn’t work well. And by the system i mean the United States Federal government.

Private healthcare is a business, businesses also have to mae money, I agree that the cost on a privat eindividual is high, that a lot of people cannot afford to pay, right now I can’t but i don’t want to have to roll the dice if i ever contract pancreatic cancer to see if I am a waste of tax payer money.

Health Care in the US is costing more now. It will cost less to look after more people. Everybody is doing calculations about how much it will cost in the future.People are not looking at the present costs.

    Hi Sid,

Health care goes beyond a movie. Movies are made to impact society in certain ways. I am sure this is no exception.
I have NO hidden agenda. I am NOT paid to write one way or the other.

I am writing from thirty years of experince. Experience with real people real, real statistics, real health care management experience and real national statistics.

I am a Registered Nurse and a patient advocate. I have work experince, management experience (in US, Canada, UK, and Australia) and the academic qualifications: RN, Bsc, MBA, PGCE, ONC, etc
