Blind Republicans
Many republicans honestly believe that if a national health service comes into existence it will be the end of a “superior health care system”. The reality is that the private system of health care that exists in the US is not superior or cheaper. The reality, as seen in Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and in Ireland is that a National Health is cheaper and superior. People live longer and get to choose their own doctors for less.
Many Republicans fail to see the fact that if there are two health care systems then consumers will have more choices. For example, I sometimes choose to see my doctor who is with the public system because she has more experience in dealing with my type of problems – Asthma. My private doctor is good with alternative health care etc but he costs me a fortune. I do not always want to spend a fortune on seeing a doctor. Why should I when I have a choice?
Is there an unconscious reason for not putting in the eyes for this Republican icon?
Republican Myth: “Private health is superior. National Health Care will be inferior”. Most Americans, mostly Republicans have been led to believe that the health care they are receiving is superior to all others. Yes. They firmly believe that Americans have the best health care. This is a big lie. The reality is that Americans die young, let their children die early and let many pregnant mothers die early. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary Republicans continue to believe they have a superior health care system because they get to see the doctor they want. No, not really they get to see a doctor who is approved by their insurance company. This doctor is instructed to contain costs! diplomatically.
Most Republicans will tell you that in the present system you can choose your doctor. The reality is that this is not always the case in any system. If you called a doctor in the US the receptionist may tell you, “Dr. America’s list is full. Dr. Liberty has opened a a new clinic on Free Street. His number is 9670 1111.” This is not really a choice. However, many Americans seem to believe that they are the only ones who can choose their doctor. The Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, British, and the Irish can all choose their own doctors. This myth is a lie. The Republicans are exploiting the public for political gains. Yes, I mean for political gains. In a national health care system we will get to choose our doctors. We may actually live longer and imporve our quality of life index.
Let me make this point again: Republicans market the fact that in America they get to choose their own doctor. The reality is that the choice of Doctor is no different in America than it is in any other country. Everybody gets to see a doctor they have chosen and are registered with. Patients in all countries are free to change doctor if they are not happy with their current doctor. This is true in a national health system and it is true of private health care. I was able to change doctors in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. This is ground reality.
Currently the Obama Administration is pushing for a health care for all its people. A Health Care system for all Americans is better than sliced bread. More people will be cared for, more people will live longer, infant mortality will decrease and the quality of life index will improve. Health Care costs will decrease from 16 % of GDP to about 8 % of GDP. I am speaking from firsthand experience. I am neither Republican nor Democrat.
In conclusion I wish all Americans better health, more wealth and more life.
US has the highest homicide amongst developed countries. Brazil and Russia are the only two countries with a higher homicide rate than the US.

The person who wrote this clearly has not read the bill, It is the end of private health care, so before you place ot in a republicans hand and blame them, read the bill.

Hi Patrick,
It is only a bill. I like your other comments. I am clearly for a national health service and I have thirty years experience to show it is better.
I respect Republican views. President George Bush was a great Republican. One more yaer of him would have seen the impossible.
I love Republican thinking. I am hoping Sarah Palin wins the Republican ticket.

Ok so we need health reform…. its going to cost an exorbitant ammount of money….How are we going to pay for it? Whats the tax rate in canada? Take a look at what all this will cost. The government barely has the money to pay interest on its current debt. Universal health care will bankrupt America. I for one don’t want 70% of my income going to a system that doesn’t work well. And by the system i mean the United States Federal government.

Private healthcare is a business, businesses also have to mae money, I agree that the cost on a privat eindividual is high, that a lot of people cannot afford to pay, right now I can’t but i don’t want to have to roll the dice if i ever contract pancreatic cancer to see if I am a waste of tax payer money.

Health Care in the US is costing more now. It will cost less to look after more people. Everybody is doing calculations about how much it will cost in the future.People are not looking at the present costs.

I have NO hidden agenda. I am NOT paid to write one way or the other.
I am writing from thirty years of experince. Experience with real people real, real statistics, real health care management experience and real national statistics.
I am a Registered Nurse and a patient advocate. I have work experince, management experience (in US, Canada, UK, and Australia) and the academic qualifications: RN, Bsc, MBA, PGCE, ONC, etc
