Canadian Peace Keepers

Canada’s role in peace keeping.

Since 1956 Canada has taken part in many peace keeping operations all around the world and continue to do so daily with there main focus on keeping the peace in Iraq at the present time.

I think what Canadians do is very important, and appreciated by the people that are in countries where they wake up to a war everyday. As peace keepers we help the people that are left to survive in a war torn country, people just like us moms dads kids grandparents that live each day in fear not knowing what can happen from minute to minute I think they are very happy to see Canadians that have come to help where ever they can and help keep them safe.

There are times when peace keepers have to defend themselves and un armed citizens, but mostly they are there to help them see that learning to get along and accepting each others differences, is a better way to live and the fact that they come all that way putting themselves at risk to help people they don’t know and are not at war with shows the world that we are a good country and have found ways for everyone to get along and that is a very good thing.

I am proud of our country and proud of the men and women that go to other countries at war and try to make a difference ,and I think we need our armed forces in those places showing people that there are alternatives and war is not the answer and that Canadians can lead the way to a peaceful solution.

I have cousins that are in the Canadian armed forces and some are stationed in Iraq, and they believe in what they are doing and are proud to represent Canada and we should be proud of them to these are young men and women that know they are leaving there families for very long periods of time to go off to help bring peace and hope to people in other parts of the world taking a huge chance that they may not make it back in one piece or even alive and that takes a very special person to be able to do that.

As Canadians we need to support them and be proud that we have such brave men and women willing to risk there lives to teach and show other countries a more tolerant way to live, I know I am.
