Carter’s Role in Khomeini’s Rise to Power

During his Presidency, Jimmy Carter didn’t only abandon support for the Shah for his alleged human rights violations. He also gave support to Khomeini. A Former Naval intelligence offer and CIA agent for the Carter administration told Mike evens that Carter gave Khomeini checks when he was in France [it's in page 14 of Mike Evan's book "Jimmy Carter The Liberal Left and World Chaos" and the CIA agent decided to remain anonymous]. In fact, the CIA agent was involved in giving him the checks [it is in page 14 of that same book].

Carter administration officials also expressed support to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. William Sulivan, Carter’s ambassador to Iran, said, “Khomeini is a Ghandi-like figure.”  

Carter adviser James Bill said that Khomeini is not a mad mujahid, but a man of “impeccable integrity and honesty.”

“Khomeini will eventually be hailed as a saint,” said Andrew Young, Carter’s ambassador to the UN.

During that time, the Carter administration was duped by Khomeini when this Ayatollah spoke of human rights and freedom. Khomeini was claiming that he has no plans to head the post-Shah Iranian government. Khomeini made all these lies up to dupe people. Jimmy Carter and his incompetent administration, was duped by Khomeini. As a result, Jimmy Carter helped set up a monster in Iran, a monster that was far worse than the Shah.

Khomeini turned Iran into one of the biggest terror states ever. This “Ghandi-like” figure executed tens of thousands of political prisoners in 1988. Human Rights Watch states that these executions “constitutes a crime against humanity under international law.” Since Khomeini took over, Iran became an even more brutal dictatorship [this time a radical Islamic one] that is dedicated to spreading radical Islam throughout the world and that supports terrorism from around the world. 

People make a big fuss that [during Reagan's Presidency] arms were sold to Iran in exchange for the hostage’s freedom and for weapons that were used to support the Contra freedom fighters. Yet it was Carter who put the man in power. A few months later, Khomeini and his radical Islamic supporters kidnapped the American embassy workers. Carter was unable to rescue them. All his plans failed.

Carter should get a big amount of the blame for Iran turning into a radical Islamic terrorist state because he helped Khomeini come into power. That is an example of why Jimmy Carter is one of the most incompetent presidents in history.
