Mao Zedong, the leader after the revolution was accepted as the communist figure of China as led China into the new area of communism. The communist revolution of China was successful because it achieved its goals of destroying Chinese government corruption, providing better environments for workers and freeing China of imperial and foreign influences.
One of China’s goals during the communist revolution was to rid the country of foreign influences because the people of China felt that they were inhibiting economic growth as well as governmental growth and corrupting ancient Chinese culture with their beliefs. The people of China started rebelling against the foreign powers and driving them out to purify their state and have control over their own country. After starting a civil war against the old leader Chiang Kai-shek, the Communist Party of China’s rebel army was slowly cutting down the national army until the Japanese attacked. Chiang Kai-Shek was more concerned with his own power that he kept on fighting the communist army instead of the Japanese. His commanders had no idea why he would do this so they captured him and forced a truce to drive out the Japanese. China was finally cleared of foreign influences when Japan was taken out of World War II with the atomic bombs which America dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Later, between 1946 and 1950 more fighting ended Chiang Kai-sheks reign and freed China’s government from corruption as well as driving out remaining warlords. In that time two of China’s revolutionary goals were achieved.
The other goal of the revolution was providing better environments for workers. This included giving portions of land to all farmers, improving working conditions for factory workers and training people to work on certain things such as schools for mechanics and engineers. This was revolutionary because the people of China had never experienced anything like this. One thing which helped industrialize China was Mao’s view of the Russian five year plan which he named “The great leap forward.” Like the Russian plan, the goal was to quickly industrialize the nation but instead of focusing solely on industrialization, this plan was also created to make spots for jobs and to increase raw materials made for China. The production of steel was tripled in one year but the factories were mismanaged which only slightly slowed production but it seems not to matter due to the large increase of materials. China was still in a bad economic state after the wars and industrializing plans but they still improved their production and working conditions which was their third goal.
Although communism is not favored among many developed countries China did have a successful communist revolution and achieved all three of its goals which were demolishing Chinese government corruption, providing better environments for workers and freeing China of imperial and foreign influences.
