Conventional Wisdom on Election Could be Wrong!
Word is that the Democrats will lose big time, hold on!
The Republicans are running around frantically screaming and looking for material to make new drapes for the House chamber when they take over, as some like to say, but word is don’t count your chickens before they come out of the ballot box. With President Obama traveling the country and trying to build enthusiasm within the Democratic party, the winds are changing and the sleeping bears are waking up.
There are many races that are tightening and closing fast as we get closer to the 2nd of November. The President visited many different states, held great rallies, one where some say had thirty-five thousand attendants. That does not appear to be a lack of interest. Some lovers need a lot of stimuli to warm up after a long time of not seeing their paramour. So it is looking like the motors are getting turned on and the feet will be walking along with the fingers voting on election day.
In Nevada Senator Harry Reid is virtually tied with Sharon Angle after she had a double digit lead for a long time over him. In the state of Washington, Senator Patty Murray is leading her Republican opponent by a few points. Representative Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania is closing in on his Republican opponent Pat Toomey in much the same way he surged at the end to beat Senator Arlen Specter in the primary.
The key in all these races is turnout, if the Democrats are able to get the voters to the polls on election day this will not be the blasting away of democratic seats that had been predicted. Lots of money has been poured in to defeat the Democrats but a good ground game will be essential in holding their own.
President Obama’s approval rating has jumped into the 50’s since he started his campaign to get the Democrats stirred up and interested in voting in the mid-term election and according to Newsweek, it has been greatly effective. So the conventional wisdom may just be turned on it’s head when all is said and done. November 3rd will certainly tell the story.
