Democracy as We Know It

An idealism on democracy & freedom, hand in hand with responsibility and sensitivity.

Democracy has always been connected to freedom, there are plenty of things that could be attributed to freedom, like freedom of speech, expression, even the choice of sexuality there should always be freedom guided through it in short freedom of choice.

As for a democratic country, the right to suffrage is one of the main characteristics of a democratic country, being able to vote and choose the leader that will rule thy country is one of the freedom that democracy entails in a democratic form of government, the people has alot more to say and that the voice of the people and the welfare of the people has always been supreme.

However, having freedom and democracy are not infinite it needs to have what we call limitation, because as we always know “too much of something is bad enough”. Abuse of freedom would be detrimental enough for the society, for this world if we continue to invoke too much freedom without undermining that it also goes with responsibility, that every action has a repercussion. We must also keep in our minds that freedom for our own choice should also take responsibility of being sensitive towards other people in the society, it should not marginalize or benefit only a few, we must pay heed that as we invoke on democracy and freedom the majority will benefit and it will not detriment the whole society that it will not greatly affect ones culture or beliefs, because if not it will just resulted into chaos and destruction which is not good in nation building for what we promote is peace among people and among nations.

Ergo, as we push through democracy we should undermine freedom with limitations, with full responsibility and apply it with equal sensitive perspective. We must now live in a world that is free yet with a heart to care for what is peaceful and good and not a freedom of expression that would be detrimental to others and society at large, we must not just voice out left and right we must learn to reflect on it well and see to it that it is for the common good and not for your own good.
