Dick Chaney is an Idiot

And yet we listen.

Dick Chaney is an idiot.  Or a genius; it might just be that the people who choose to listen to him are idiots.  In fact, as I think about it, that’s far more likely.  Dick Chaney might actually be the greatest con man any of us have ever seen.  He sure got us while he was in the White House with his little pet George W. Bush.  Does the name Halliburton ring a bell?  That’s the company for whom Dick Chaney was employed… at a rate of a million bucks a year… while serving as Vice President.  The same company that was awarded, without bidding, huge contracts during the Bush administration concocted war in Iraq.  A man who sold the lives of American soldiers for profit; and walked away richer and consequence free.  So in all fairness, there are many adjectives that suit him, but stupid isn’t one of them.

Since leaving the joke of an administration he helped head, he has surfaced on occasion, usually to bash our current president in some form or another.  Barack Obama is probably not on the aptly named Dick’s Christmas list. His latest is a doozy:

As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low-key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war.”

How is it that we’re listening to him?  Perhaps it’s because of his obvious expertise in the area of protecting our nation from terrorist attacks. Except for that little incident with the Anthrax attacks.  Oh, and that inconsequential little incident with the Beltway snipers.  And the hundreds of attacks on our troops and contractors in Iraq. And yeah… the worst terrorist attack on American soil in history.

And his line about giving terrorists the rights of Americans… Google the name Richard Reid and see what you find.  And his low key response;  he would prefer that our Commander in Chief panic, perhaps?  Or follow George W. Bush’s example and sit like a moron and drool on himself?

The bottom line here is that this statement, a proverbial rock thrown from a glass house, is ignorant, and intentionally so.  And yet we listen.  And these ridiculous sound bytes he keeps providing will continue to be construed by right wing lemmings.  But in the end, it will prove a fruitless effort.  People wonder what has happened with the G.O.P., where things went wrong.  Here it is.

A man tries to blow up an airplane, and you attack Barack Obama.  A man opens fire on military personal in Texas, and you attack Barack Obama.  By all appearances, the republican party is far more interested in playing the politics game than in fixing our Nation.  You want to get a conservative president into the oval office?  Try starting with baby steps, guys.  Before you try to run the United States, try fixing your own damn party.  Idiots.
