Does Europe Really Care About Ireland?
The second Lisbon treaty, dole fraud, and what it really means to the Irish people.
The E.U. constantly promotes equality and fairness. They always say that it is a democratic institution for the good of all 27 members. So, where do we, the Irish people stand in it? It is becoming more and more clear to me, and to other Irish people that the E.U. cares little for Irish affairs seeing us as a nuisance because our people demand a say in all things continental. Also our government seems to me to only ever think that they can’t be wrong and neither can Europe. The whole Fianna Fail/E.U. rule stinks of an elitist set up whereby your average Irishman or woman faces the dole queue or else third level fees.
Ireland has one of the best social welfare systems in the World. Over 20 percent of our population are foreign nationals. A significant portion of these European or global citizens have no English or else claim welfare whilst they work-I should know I have worked with such people, seen it and heard it done through them actually bragging, and because unlike the E.U. and the government I have family who have to visit the dole office monthly, so I know more than ever about people from all over the world who come here to steal dole. Hell, even British and Northern Irish people have done it. Yet Ireland, the nation which lose over 60 million euro a year from dole thieves and the Irish taxpayer are bearing the brunt of being “wrong”. We voted no and so this is what we face-elitist rule from bureaucrats in Brussels who can’t tell the difference between a Bounty chocolate bar and a lolly pop, and an incompetent government with no spine at all. They’ll just let the big powers dictate major continental affairs whilst we lurk in the shadows as the nation without a voice-no matter what you vote. I think that is the saddest thing of all.
