For the People: But Which People?
Who does our government serve?
Our government was established to give all people a choice in the laws and regulations that control this great nation. The Declaration of Independence is the backbone of these established rights and privileges. Over the years it has been evident that these rights are only for a selective group of people. Our government has been catering to big business corporations and the wealthy individuals, but it is time for them to realize that without the hard work of the average citizen, this nation would not have been established. It is obvious that our leaders in Washington need to address issues concerning our economic, financial, educational and health problems, but the United States is made-up of more than multi-billion dollar companies and wealthy contributors.
It would be nice if our politicians would think of the needs of all people, and not the needs of their pocket books. I challenge our President to take the time and visit the small towns and businesses and really listen to their issues and,who knows, you might learn some valuable lessons concerning the real backbone of this nation. This great nation was established “For the people, by the people, and of the people” not “For the wealthy, by the wealthy, and of the wealthy”, so which “people” do you serve?
