Government Lies
I was once told that government was the one thing that could never lie to the people. Government, in a sense, had to be the only truthful thing we could count on because the people control it. Since I was told that, many years ago, I have noticed the U.S. Government lying to its people left and right.
Lie Two: The Two Political Parties want different things
Okay we have two main political parties in the U.S., the Republicans and Democrats. With these two political parties there are many minor parties that don’t get too much attention. If you look at the 2008 Presidential Elections you had John McCain and Barrack O’Bama. I know, O’Bama won, but at this moment that is beside the point. McCain was for less government, less pork barrel spending, and the war in Iraq. O’Bama on the other hand was for change and free health care. What people don’t get is that McCain would have increased the size of government and made the national debt even larger. Both political parties want to control the masses and be in power. The parties just say they want different things, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter who is in power, they will always want more control. Lie was revealed by Glenn Beck’s Common Sense to order your copy please click the link.
Lie Three: President O’Bama’s ‘Change’
To be honest, I really didn’t like either of the presidential candidates in 2008. I’m not arguing that our president is changing the U.S. Except, is he changing it for the better? So far in O’Bama’s presidency he has made the national debt larger. Yes, he has dealt with the economy crisis, but he’s doing what FDR did in the 1930s: spending his way out of it. Just let me ask you this question, what exactly is O’Bama changing? Or is he just doing more of the same?
So, as we all know, government isn’t very truthful. If government wanted us all to have free health care in a free market economy they would print off health care vouchers so that we could chose where we want go to the doctors. Instead, our government gives us a lie about helping us with health care when in all reality they want control our fate. Remember political parties want the same thing, power. The only way to stop that is to vote for people that you believe will make a change for the better. Remember, change isn’t always good.

Politicians are usually good at speech but they can’t really change the situation, can they? Good points, my friend. Have my liked it.

I’m not from US, but we have a similar problem here where the government is trying to spend its way out of recession. We are very heavily taxed, and with so many people not working, the burden on the rest is huge.
We do have a ‘free’ health service which people who work contribute to. Those who work are being squeezed until there is no longer any point in doing so. Many lower paid people would be better off not working because of our benefits system.

There are many points to ponder here, and we are generally the ones lied to. I still am holding out hope that Obama will effect some worthwhile changes. The stimulus package has already increased my pay check by lowering my taxes.. Not much but when you make barely minimum wage getting a few bucks more means something. What exactly can he do with the mess he was left with? People are up in arms now, but Bush created this mess and continued to send our young men off to war and ruin our budget for two terms. He lied to us, stole from us, killed our youth and invaded our privacy. Where were the protesters then?

Thanks for the comments guys!
Judy, I don’t know where the protesters where then. When the war started i was in the 4th or 5th grade. There was a tragedy… but that is no excuse for invading privacy that is a right from the constitution.. In the bill of rights if I’m not mistaken. As for the budget, I can’t blame it all on Bush, I think it has to do with congress too, but both were probably a factor. Who knows, Obama has four years to prove to us his change is actually good… I hope it is for the sake of America
I agree with you Chan, politicans really can’t change a situation…
Well, I hope England can change their situation around, Louie. Maybe voting new people into office when elections come around?
Thanks for the comment BC Doan!

Politics is all about power, always has been, always will be.From my own point of view, I have high hopes for Obamas health plan and I hope it works, we won’t know until it happens.I had rather see everyone with substandard health care than so many people with no health care. The higher salaried are no more entitled to health care than working people who make little money.Of course tax payers are the ones who pay for everything. Where else would the money come from? and it’s the working class who pay more, not the well heeled. Lets all hang in and hope for the best. And getting our military home will be the icing on the cake.I have a grandson getting ready to go to Afganistan now.

It seems to happen everywhere. I think only more people getting involved can bring about real change.

“I had rather see everyone with substandard health care than so many people with no health care”
Really? I mean, REALLY? Would you also like to see government appointed commissions deciding who needs knee replacement surgery first? Should it be Grandpa who worked for 40 years and invested in this country or the 18 year old punk that can’t remember how he damaged his knee because it happened while he was partying last Saturday night? Government commissions are filled with people who are appointed by elected officials. And the 18 year old kid probably has a lot more years worth of votes to get. And when the government lives off of taxes, they gotta be thinking about who will pay more taxes if their leg is repaired. Forget the old fellow who already put is dollar in the government charity bin, right?
Thanks but no thanks.
I hope Obama does well. I, my wife, and my children pray for him to do well. But he’s not being honest about this health care plan. He’s not being ‘transparent.’ You will not be able to “keep what you have if you’re happy with it.” Why not? Because your employer will absolutely go with the cheapest form of insurance that they possibly can. And that, guaranteed, will be the garbage that the government offers. And try as he might, he’ll never convince me that he’s promoting simple ‘competition’ with this plan. It’s not possible for private organizations to compete when the government gets into the game, and then gets to make the rules of the game.
Ask your doctor what he thinks. Ask a nurse.

Hi Alexa. You’ve raised two very important issues here: healthcare and taxes…lol. I think the taxing system in my country and yours are pretty much similar, because ours was patterned to the US taxation system.
At the end of the day, large businesses pay LESS in taxes because as you said, they just pass it on to the consumer. There is no such thing as free healthcare.
As of politicians, they don’t really care about the long term status of the economy. They just use temporary “solutions” or first aid fixes because as far as they are concerned, they will be out of office in 4 to 8 years. The real effects of today’s debt will be felt by people 20 to 30 years from now…the next generation (your children and grandhildren) will be the ones to pay the debts incurred today. Even today’s recession was partly a result of America’s spending habits in the 70’s and 80’s.
Let’s continue to hope for the best, though! So far, the economy has showed some signs of recovery. We should keep our hopes high for America.
