Hillary Clinton, a Role Model for Women
Hillary Clinton, the current and 67th Secretary of State of the United States of America is a role model for all women who aspire to achieve greater hieghts in their professional careers.
In a world where men continue to call the shots
in all spheres of life, there are few women who have made a mark in their
professional lives. One of those well accomplished and well known women is the
current Secretary of State of the United States of America, The Honorable
Hillary Rodham Clinton. Born on October 26, 1947 to Hugh Rodham and Dorothy
Rodham, Hillary Clinton was brought up in Chicago and did her bachelor’s degree
from Wellesley College and obtained her law degree from Yale law school. She practiced as a lawyer in Rose law firm.
In 1975, Hillary Rodham married Bill Clinton.
In 1980, their only daughter, Chelsea was born to Hillary and Bill Clinton.
When Bill Clinton became the Governor of Arkansas, Hillary Rodham Clinton
became the First lady of Arkansas. She played a major role in formulating
welfare policies for the Arkansas state during Bill Clinton’s tenure as
Governor. In 1992, Hillary Clinton
became the first lady of the United States of America after Bill Clinton became
the President of the United States of America. She played an important role in
promoting the policies of the Clinton administration and travelled extensively
across the globe championing the cause of the downtrodden people of various societies,
women’s rights and empowerment and human rights. In 2001, Hillary Clinton
successfully contested for the junior senator of New York position and hence
became the first First Lady of the United States of America to be elected to
the United States Senate. In 2006, she was reelected to that position and
continued in that position till she became the Secretary of State of the United
States of America.
In 2008, Hillary Clinton announced her
candidature for the President of the United States of America. After a close
battle with the current President Barack Obama for the Democratic Party nomination,
she lost out by a few delegate count compared to Obama. She endorsed Obama for
president and campaigned hard for his election as president. However, Hillary
Clinton won the maximum number of delegate counts ever in the history of the US
presidential nomination race compared to any other female candidate.
In December of 2008, Hillary Clinton was
nominated for the post of The Secretary of State of the United States of
America by the then President elect, Barack Obama. After confirmation by the US
senate, Hillary Rodham Clinton was elected as the 67th Secretary of
State of the United States of America on January 21, 2009. Since then she has
travelled extensively all across the globe promoting American interests and
leadership, food security, human rights, national security interests, women’s
empowerment and development, free markets, global peace and environmental
conservation.
Even after being in the public limelight for
almost four decades, Hillary Clinton continues to inspire women across the
globe by her rigorous work ethic and her successful professional career. She has been named the world most admired
woman by all major polls including those of the Gallup and Forbes. Hillary
Clinton is a role model for all women who aspire to achieve greater heights in
their professional careers.
