Hometown Democracy: A Synopsis
Otherwise known as “Amendment 4,” the Hometown Democracy amendment will be on the statewide Florida ballot in 2010.
Its supporters see it as a way for citizens to once again take control of the state’s growth by requiring a vote by citizens on any changes that are made to each municipalities master comprehensive plan.
Their allegation is that local governing boards commonly make exceptions to developers that will benefit the developers at citizens’ expense. In the future, they would like to see citizens vote on each major change.

I think it is time for the electorate to actually have a say over what the elected vote on… Maybe it is a way to hold their feet to the fire, and make them work for us, rather than work at making themselves celebrities…
