How Much Money Has The US Spent In Iraq?

A very brief look at the answer to this question.

CostOfWar.com
is a project maintained by the National Priorities Project. It analyses federal data on spending in the war in Iraq, and produces a running counter of the total amount of money spent in the war in Iraq. At the time of writing this article, the war in Iraq costs $445,817,285,000.

$445,817,285,000. That’s quite a large sum of money. And with large sums of money, sometimes it’s hard to put them into perspective. So let’s take a look at how the money could have been used otherwise. Instead of invading Iraq, 7,726,076 public school teachers could have been hired for a year. Or, 266,956,850 children could have had health insurance for a year. Back to education, 21,612,280 students could have been provided with four-year college scholarships.

This should give you an idea of the sheer amount of money that has been poured into the Iraq war – there aren’t even 266 million children in the United States. Now imagine how much better off the economy would be if that money had been invested inside the United States.

The war sure hasn’t been helping the common person in the states with their expenses: The price of milk has gone up from $1.40 for a 2-gallon pack to $5.14 for the same pack, (according to a US resident).

Good or bad? I say it’s bad, but you decide. Just remember, 21 million 4-year college scholarships.

Or better yet Washington could have left us with our own money. When liberals make comparisons it’s always “look how many sick puppies we could have healed.”

How true? This amount of money could have done wonders for the small and upcoming countries.

yeah, we could have saved all that money so that when al-qaeda knocks down a few more of our buildings we can afford to just rebuild them. Or, we could knock down a few of their buildings and kill a few of their people. aproxamently 21 thousand insurgents have been killed so far.

Hey D, also think about over 100,000 innocent men, women and children have been murdered over there. They had noting to do with what happened here. Iraq had noting to do with what happened here. So instead of looking up statistics and up your a** for information, read, learn and absorb whats going on in this world. Your intent is well versed, but your accusing the wrong country. And when Bush was asked about the war..he said its a do over he can’t do over. He knew he screwed up. So we went over there on false pretenses..and continued to blow that country back to rubble. Sad, embarrasing for us. Sad for the innocent people. We don’t like there politics so lets tear down a whole country and its people. What if some came here, and did to us what we did to them, because they don’t like our politics, come here and kill 100,000 of our innocent people…The whole word is condemning the US for this war and our politics. Poke..wake up!

good point Kit8dog2, but the point is someone invading the U.S is pretty slim I mean I live by an air force base and the amount of planes is amazing a-10’s, f-16’s,etc..

28,221,180 iraqis… i think saving that many and constructing a new government tops merely granting scholarships to 21 million. Oh, kitdog by the way. Your “false pretense” accusations are wrong. According to a CIA count, over 150,000 chemical and biological warheads have been found in IRAQ. Are these the WMD’s you think don’t exist?

its impossible randomdude, because statistics, since u want to talk about them, show that there are only 34,000 nukes in the world active. do u really think only one country not only has the space and capacity, but the money? U.S. doesn’t want anyone to play with guns, but they dont want anyone telling them crap
