Jon Stewart – The Traitor

Many of the most influential members of the media are carefully selected. It’s partly about talent, but also about whether they will advance the government/corporate agenda.

Jon Stewart is host of “The Daily Show”, the very popular and highly acclaimed comedy news show. You can make an argument that the show is the flagship of Comedy Central. It has spun off “The Colbert Report”, while launching huge careers for Steve Carell and Ed Helms, and to a lesser extent, Rob Corddry and Rob Riggle. Stewart is a very smart guy and extremely inciteful. However, he cannot be trusted.
With the global economic collapse starting in 2008, it’s a little harder to laugh at the news. Perhaps, impending doom lurks behind the corner. It was clear that the election of Barack Obama didn’t change the direction of this country at all. So we started seeing protests at town hall meetings, and a new political alliance calling itself the Tea Party. There is no doubt that there has been a huge political shift. The left and right no longer can be cleary identified. Both democrats and republicans appear to be trying re-brand themselves. The insane Glen Beck who has a massive following and claims to represent Tea Party values held a massive rally in Washington. And it was this moment that revealed what Jon Stewart really is.
Stewart had to start his own rally to steer the cattle back in the proper direction. He called this the “Rally to Restore Sanity”. It didn’t provide a platform to express the fears or grievances of his typical audience. It was basically a rally to not protest or stand for anything. The message was “Don’t worry and don’t get mad. Things will be OK.” His exact line was “These are not end times”. At least Glen Beck was trying to be spiritually uplifting.
Recently, Stewart did an interview with Rachel Maddow. He said that calling George W. Bush a war criminal was too strong. Stewart also said that he felt Bush was doing what he thought was best for the country. Add this to the fact that Jon’s brother is chhairman of the New York Stock Exchange. And, recently Jon was meeting with Tim Geithner behind the scenes of “The Daily Show”. Understand that Jon Stewart is not the voice to critique the ruling powers. He IS the voice of the ruling powers.
