Ministerial Corruption Must be Stamped Out

by Tim P Stavert in Politics, May 12, 2009

With the British Parliament being corrupt in the way of Fraudulant Expenses, we ask ourselves how much more is going on in other European Countries as well as the European Union itself?

Over the past year or so Britain has been faced with corruption from dodgy Bankers to management consultants, that have swanned around the corridors of Westminster since the Labour Party introduced them as “Spin Doctors”, when they came into power in 1997.

Now the Government is under scrutiny for their Members making “Fraudulent claims” for expenses. This has also been made worse by the Prime Minister who said he wanted to make changes. It only added to the Media’s and the public suspicions that there were more unethical expenses being claimed from ministers.

Although many rules had been printed within Parliament, it was only a matter of time that they would be abused. Also had many of the rules been made aware of, before Ministers were found out. I believe the rule book would have had to be torn up, because the public simply would not want to pay for many of the expenses allowed anyway.

I believe now we have a situation where we, the voters should have a right to call for a general election and judge our representative MP on merit and commitment to running this once Great Britain in Credit and not in Debt.

This is where I now turn to Europe, to ask how much the MEPs are claiming, the reason and the rules of the MEP allowances, because of the cost to the tax payer is costing many Millions of pounds a year let alone the cost of actually being in the EU.

I feel it also important for other people from across Europe to know what their MEPs are costing and what are they getting from the EU in return. We like many countries within the EU, should be getting at least as much out of it as we are contributing.

This EU is supposed to be democratic, so I am sure expenses should be made available. I feel that any country that leaves the EU now may lose more than they will gain in terms of trading relationships. However if things are corrupt as many people may think, then it is time to consider change whether inside or outside the EU.

It looks the same worldwide. Crooks in the seats of power causing unrest everywhere. Good work, Tim.
