Network Against The Coup in Thailand and The Dilemma for The Rural Poor

I was told that I can not write about the coup in Thailand for several magazines. As frustrating as it is, I understand where publishers are

I’m not talking about the coup and the Constitution, but there are certain things that I want to explore. I wrote a couple songs on the bump on my blog and taken a great interest in achieving a better understanding of what happened recently.

Not everyone is pleased with how events took place after the coup. 19 September Network against the coup, a group that expressed a different view on what led him to believe in the existence in Thailand. The Thai media have been reluctant to present this side of the story.

What also worries me is that many people are quick to say how Thailand is the way it does, how it is the way democracy works in Thailand.  This is exactly the point of view that supporters of the Network 19  September fight against the coup.  Thailand has made great strides in recent years, and this reaction is a large group of people who realize the universal values of democracy.

The main problem with the rural poor.  When I said two weeks ago in Thailand emulate Western values, I mean between the privileged classes in major cities, where anti-coup as this is a reality.  The situation is of course different for the rural poor who do not care about Western values and only cares about how they can benefit immediately from the political situation.  This is why support for Thaksin, because the results were immediate.

While the major cities of the West depends on practice on farms is not always the case.  This underscores the real problem of the gap between the elite and the poor.

In addition, the rural masses are not interested in freedom of expression.  They want the best I know, they can come here and now, and it comes in the form of superficial benefits.  Therefore, it should be the key to Thailand must be the education of millions of people who have the power to vote on what the vote really means.

It is very complicated and unstable, and often have trouble getting my head around.  A part of me wants unromantic and unpredictable nature of democracy is restored, but then how can the ideal of democracy is used if no one really understands what it means?  Sometimes I think the Orwellian nightmare is the only solution.

I support the idea behind the September 19 Network said, but at the same time I realize that this ideal is far from perfect because it is an ideal for the social elite.  If there was any schools in rural areas, can then be fine, power is delivered to people easier, but it seems that the injury caused by Thaksin to educate the masses will take years to repair.  Although, but still believe that the overthrow of the Constitution of 1997 was not the right thing to do because of lack of freedom of expression in place now.

The future looks very bleak.
