Non-State Actors in International Politics
About the importance and role of non-state actors in international politics.
Adopting non-governmental organizations and international organizations into the realist example is a new transfer that is required to clarify the new international scheme. It is imperative to keep in mind that as they come into the fold of realism, NGO’s and international organizations have no legality in the global ground. Particularly, one could straight forwardly recommend that international organizations are voluntary organizations that states come into to provide their own self-interests. The United States has the capability to control politics and policy within the United Nations while remaining free to do what it wants without United Nations consent. Likewise, the regional European Union body grants members the economic aid benefits. Turkey, as a nation with the second largest standing army in NATO, benefits more from European Union economic aid rather than mutual protection. States retain power in all actions, give away some dominion in their own interest and may conversely take back the power they break away. Al-Qaeda is a non-state state actor that functions as a non-governmental organization whose interests are to form a unified Islamic state. The aims of Islamic terrorists are to unite the Arab world under the Islam as the one true faith. This aim of a non-state actor trying to form a new state legitimizes the role of the state in the international scheme and realist model. Al-Queda and its chains view interference in Saudi Arabia by the United States and other western powers as a major opposition of this goal. Since all states adopt their current economic, political and military strategies to react to this global risk, it can be shown that terrorist organizations have gained considerably affected the actions of states. Terrorist organizations have also started to grow serious offenses to the internal actions of states. The Israeli action taken against Hezbollah revealed one state going to war with another state over the actions of a terrorist organization. Palestinian citizens in recent times, nominated a renowned terrorist organization, Hamas, as their majority legislative power. Currently, the Iraqi conflict has become a breeding ground for terrorist and whose rebellion effort is mainly sponsored by terrorist organizations. Terrorist organizations have legality on the international theater.
