Obama Has Done It! What Does This Mean?
A lot has been said over the past 48 hours about the election and what it means for America. I have some thoughts.
It’s official Barack Obama is the next president of the united states. As everyone knows he was elected with the first win while obtaining more than 50 percent of the vote for a democrat since Jimmy Carter in 1976. Lets all hope Obama’s presidency does not turn out like the formers. I personally voted for Obama and am happy of the elections outcome. I heave heard a lot of the how and why on the radio and television and also in print. People have been stating what this means for our country and such. I have heard things such as America is no longer the country it once was. This is an end to racism as we knew it. Obama is going to revolutionize not only our country, but also the world. I read that he was so much a better candidate than McCain. I listened to black mothers say that they finally have someone to show as an example of how far they can make it in life. Even high profile athletes are coming out and saying that before this black kids could only aspire to become athletes or entertainers. I think all this is a bunch of hooey.
Let me tell you why I voted for Obama. Up until a few weeks ago I was pretty sure I would be voting for McCain. I thought at least this man has a plan. I am all about change for the better change but Obama never seamed to tell me what he was going to change and how. The debates were the deciding factor. Obama did a really nice job telling America his plan to help the country into the next four maybe eight years. I thought to myself today. The job of the president of the United States is simple. He or she is there to bring unity to the people of our country so that together we can make the country a better place for ourselves and those to come. Also the president must take what he and his people have learned and share it with the rest of the world. Not as a means of saying this is how it should be done do it our way. The president should portray the idea of this is what we have learned, these are the ideas that have and have not worked for us and we would like to share that with you the world. I think Obama is the man best suited for this purpose.
