Obama Has Done It! What Does This Mean?

Will Obama change the world? NO! I am so sorry but this much cannot be done in such a short period of time. Bush’s problem in Iraq was to think he could change a country in a few years. It took a couple hundred years to get to where we are now. Obama himself has stated not to expect that everything is hunky dory in the next four to eight years. What he did tell us was that he is going to try and put into place ideas and innovations that will guide our country to a better time and place. This will take time though. How far he takes our country depends a lot on us. Like I said before it is his job to unify us and guide us into together making the country a better place. If us Americans do not do our part, then this will not work.

Do black children finally have someone they can look up to other than athletes or entertainers? Yes and No! I cannot begin to tell you what it’s like growing up a black man or woman in America. I am your average white suburbanite. What I can tell you is that if you’re a parent of a black child and your role model list for your kids was athletes, entertainers, and now the president, your doing them an injustice. I understand that you can finally look junior in the eye and say yes son you can be the president of the USA and not have your fingers crossed behind your back. Do not sell your kids short like this. I believe it was Bill Cosby that said that black Americans need to stop placing the hopes and dreams of there kids on becoming a famous rapper or the point guard for an NBA team. Black children have a lot of people they can look up to. Maybe it’s time to start teaching our black youth they can aspire to be teachers and business men and woman. They can look up to the local police officers. They can admire black leaders in our community. You did not need a black president to show your kids they can have dreams and achieve them.

I hope I did not offend anyone. This is a great time for our country. Not because we have elected a black president. Because we elected the right guy. Obama was not running as a black man for president. He was running as a man with the courage and the leadership to bring our country to new heights. This is why he won. I just hope that we the people will allow him and help him achieve his vision for a better America. If your not an Obama supporter then sucks to be you. There is nothing you can do about it so make some lemonade already.
