PNP Receives Victory
The election of December 29, 2011 gives victory to the Peoples National Party.
Supporters and Members of the Peoples National Party are indeed overwhelmed of the victory they received based on the preliminary results. Shouts of joy and happiness, the blowing of horns and tears of joy fill the homes, avenues, communities and meeting grounds of the supporters and members of the PNP. Did Jamaica make the right choice or should we have put more X beside the bell? The fact of the matter is only time will tell. While the PNP can describe their victory as overwhelming, one member of the Jamaica Labour Party describes this as heart rending. He said that the party did the best they could, however, acknowledges that their best was not good enough.
With all the support in numbers that JLP received at their meetings with the public and the campaigns, they thought they would have had victory rather than the PNP. Why did Jamaica vote for the PNP and not the JLP? In an interview with some members of the public one said he is not sure why the Jamaica gave victory to PNP, while another said it’s because of the increase in prices in items used to drive society.
Portia Simpson-Miller will once again receive the title of Prime Minister of Jamaica. Her tears are just enough to express her gratefulness for the position. This victory caused PNP to form the 16th government since 1944 and they will now bring Jamaica into its 50th anniversary.
