President Obama’s Fiscal 2010 Budget — Office of Management and Budget

President Barack Obama is trying to improve the health care system by reducing prices, bettering health care quality, and making health care available for everyone. With Barack Obama’s new health care plan, he plans to cut spending from the current annual rate of $2.2 trillion (almost $8,000 per person). It is predicted that by 2017, almost 20% of the economy (over $4 trillion) will be spent on health care if nothing is done to stop the prices progress. The president plans to save tax payers more than $175 billion and set aside a health care reserve of over $630 billion all over the next 10 years. President Obama wants to expand the hospital quality improvement program so that the health care system would pay for the quality of the treatment more than for quantity of patients treated. He even plans to help avoid hospital readmissions by paying hospitals less for readmission within a 30-day period. Not only will this improve the quality of the health care that the patient receives; but, it will also help to save more money. The president wants to invest an unprecedented $1 billion in medical prevention and wellness to help prevent major health issues from ever occurring. There is even a plan in place to improve how health care records are kept. The current system for health care records is prone to error, time-consuming, costly, and wasteful. The customary records are all paper-based and rely on the patients’ memory. The president proposes to computerize America’s health records over the next 5 years. He wants every American to be able to have a choice of what health care plan they have and which physicians that they are covered for. Barack Obama’s plan will reduce waste, fraud, and other inefficiencies that drive up health care costs without any added health benefits. President Barack Obama’s plan to reform health care in America will reduce taxpayer spending, create a $630 billion health care fallback, improve hospital quality, and provide affordable health care to all.
