Political Party
Etymologically the word “party” has been derived from the word “part”. It refers to a situation in which there exists either a controversy or competition between two or more groups of people within a particular society or political order.

You’re correct that political parties, not the type of government, set the agenda. America’s parties used to have different goals, but today elites control both political parties. That’s why you see most large corporations and lobbyists contributing to both parties. The issues they constantly rehash for the public, gay marriage, abortion, religion in schools, etc…, is a façade that covers up the fact that the important decisions are quietly made and serve those in power.
