Politics and Teenagers

Essay about the "divorce" between teenagers and politics.

It is a fact the most of us should know that teenagers nowadays almost do not care about politics and that many times reflects on the elections whit great abstention numbers and most of the ones who vote do not perform one informed vote. The problem is that many of this teenagers are educated with base on principals that with our politicians do is wrong but what they do not learn is that they can make a difference just by voting and by choosing who is going to “decide” their future and it all starts at the primary school where the children should learn how the debates work and learn a bit of democracy (of course we are not going to teach the system of republic or monarchy to little kids but a little view on the system they live in is important) they should learn that  they should always try to find a solution that everyone agrees but if that’s not possible the majority wins because it will satisfy most population (in this case the students of the class) and then with these children growing up they should be introduced to one political system ( the one their country possesses) and they should initiated to political debates. Lets see the case of Portugal the government as now initiated a project in which teenagers from the 7Th to the 12Th grade can run for a mini Parliament that will only debate things related to their country (this year the theme is the republic and the things that could be changed to it in order to improve our country politics and way of living). I think initiatives like this are important so that the teenagers when get to their time to vote make this act with all the information they need and not just because they have nothing else to do.

So if you can or like the idea suggest it to your schools or to someone you know that can initiate this projects because if Kids are the future they should how is their present and how to make it better for when they grow up
