President Obama: Moving Forward

by quiet voice in Politics, May 8, 2009

The first one-hundred days of the Obama Administration have passed, the administration now moves forward, to try to create new jobs and to turn the economy around.

Now that the first one-hundred days of the Obama Administration have
passed, the President is moving forward to improve the country, and help
to make life better for most of the American people.

So far, taxes have been reduced for all those who make less than two-hundred
and fifty thousand dollars a year, unemployment benefits have been extended
for those out of work, Guantanamo Bay has been scheduled to close, the
President has ended torture of prisoners, he has signed an executive order which
puts women’s pay on par with men’s pay in certain instances. Children’s health
care has been extended to millions more children under the CHIPS program.
States and counties are receiving funds to stop layoffs of policemen, firemen,
teachers and other necessary workers. A massive budget has been passed to
assist in righting the economy, although it puts into play huge deficits, at this
time deficit spending is a necessity. The President intends to reduce the deficits
in the future when the economy is in a healthier state. He is also planning to
put in place a health care system that benefits all Americans, at an affordable
cost. Another priority, according to the President, is a revision of the Tax Code,
which would include closing some of the loop holes used to avoid paying taxes.
Many other things have been put into operation, which are meant to stabilize
the banking system, and make credit available to those who need it to run their
businesses and make their payrolls.

It has been reported that in those states where the foreclosures on properties
first started, there are signs of a rebound in property sales. It will take time,
but the country will start to prosper again, and new jobs will be created to
revitalize the country. Ford Motors has announced that they will open a new
plant in Detroit, Michigan, to produce small cars, and there will be 3,500 new
jobs at the facility. There is money in the new budget for investment in green
jobs as well.

Progress will be slow, but the country is resilient and it will be strong again,
after the storm. The President and his administration, are going to make every
effort to see that this is what takes place in the future, hopefully growth and
prosperity will abound.

…Hi BC, thanks for your comment. They are trying, and there are small signs that the methods are working. One correction, the Ford plant will be near Detroit, not in the city. Today they announced plans to change the rules, so those receiving unemployment can attend school, to improve their skills. Take care.
