Running for Political Office
I said I would never do this.
In the May 19th primary election there are four positions open for West York Area School District Board of Directors. Currently there are three candidates running and the fourth position on the fall ballot will be filled by the write in candidate that gets the most votes. There will likely be less than 1000 votes cast in this election and the margin will be small! A write in will win that spot and likely the election. It is an important race because these four people will be very instrumental in the amount of property tax you pay in future years and setting the level of education quality in this district.
I am declaring myself as a possible write in for you to consider. I am a working professional, have lived in the Shiloh area since 1987 and in Dover Twp for 19 of the previous 22 years. My children have gone to school here. Two of my grandchildren do at this time. I have managed budgets and am aware of current needs of business and the community. I have taught at YBI and YTI. I hold a BA from Shippensburg. I see both the cost and value of education.
I am neither tied to the current tax and spend school board which has little concerns about spending or the taxpayer groups that would gut education to cut taxes. I am a registered Republican but am not tied to either of the parties or the deals they have cut. Democrats can also write in my name. I want quality education at the best price. I am sick of politics as usual. One of my roles in business was finding better ways to do the job; do it right and do it with less.
I ask your consideration to writing in my name (Ralph Brandt) for West York School Director on May 19.
Thank you for any consideration you give in this matter. Since I will only get to a small portion of the district, if you feel this has merit, pass it on.
No matter what, GET OUT AND VOTE on May 19. It is important.
