Say No to Socialism
Why socialism is not right for our country.
There is absolutely no doubt that life in America today is ever changing. Decisions of the past are not acceptable to the issues that face us all today. The leaders of our country are faced with issues of safety and economical survival just to name a few. No matter what the issue, our leaders have the struggling task of making hard decisions that could impact our complete way of life.
With the recent election of President Elect Obama, our country is faced with an issue that will impact the lives of ever American. Socialism. It is a fact that a socialist based society will not flourish. We have seen it in Europe and even as close as Canada. One social implement in each of these countries is that of healthcare. It is a known fact that socializing healthcare is not the way to improve the ever rising costs and care issues of the field. First of all, socialized healthcare is not “free” to the people. This is a misconception that the “powers that be” try to convince you to believe, but it is not the case. No product made in any country is produced without costs and there is no company in existence that could produce very long if they were not charging the market and consumers for their products. Therefore, the money must come from somewhere. It comes from taxes. Any program a government sets up has to be funded and they are all funded by taxes. It may come to a shock to some, but where do taxes come from? You. All employed citizens pay taxes and that is how the government is funded. Taxes have to be levied to fund these programs, but the people can only be taxed so far. This brings up the next issue facing socialized healthcare. The money allocated to the program. This means that certain caps have to be in place to regulate the costs for all care given. Supply and demand is a crucial element of consideration. Meaning, the supply of procedures and medications can only go so far and it will be left up to the administrators of the program to decide who will receive care and when. How will that be decided? Age, social standing, wealth, importance of care? This is a disaster in the making. Stop and think about it, what program has our own government ever governed well? Social Security? Our economy? I don’t think that the government can do a better job than the free market. Just a little food for thought.

You would be naive to believe there to be a direct correlation between “hard work, education and determination” and the amount of money someone makes. People do not have equal opportunity to achieve wealth within America’s current system.
I think the public needs to overlook the stigmas attached to socialism and develop a better understanding of what socialism actually entails before denouncing it.
“It is a fact that a socialist based society will not flourish.” Is it?
