Slogans, Quotes and Political Statements Gone Awry

by Bren Parks in Politics, December 7, 2008

Here are some really bad quotes, slogans and political statements that, in retrospect, make me ask one question – What were they thinking?!

“Fighting for peace” makes just about as much sense as “making love for chastity”.  These slogans and statements were actually thought to be logical.  On the other hand, I think they are pretty amusing.

Daley was Mayor of Chicago he had to deal with the upheaval and violence resulting from the riots that plunged Chicago into chaos in 1968.  In a speech, Mayor Daley said “Let’s get one thing straight.  The police aren’t here to create disorder.  The police are here to preserve disorder.”
