Some Problematic Areas of International Relations

Cyprus: The union wants to turkey to solve cyprus and Aegean issues by giving concessions but it does not talk about other side’s responsibilities. As EU take South cyprus administration as being a member,it broke his rules and old treaties. However EU behave like turkey is responsible all the things happened and wait turkey to solve the issues. Thus EU put us under pressure  as november coming. Cypriot greeks also try to pick something. EU can’t  discuss someone who don’t recognize a member of EU but they are responsible for this by taking South cyprus administration as being a member that has border problems with his neighbour. I mean, He is quilty himself, yet he acts innocent and does not hesitate to impugn others.

UE tells that turkey slowed the reforms and there are important issues that have to be solved. And turkey has to include new 10 members in treaty of Ankara. But we don’t want to recognize South administration. And  there will be an election in KKTC a few weeks later. KKTC will elect an president of republic. Who will be elected? Talat? After that what will it happen? Cyprus will determine EU and turkey relations in the near future.

EU-TR:Turkey denies ‘privileged partnership’ and states that the goal can not be open. However some people insist on ‘privileged partnership’ such as Austria. Now in austria a conservative party is in power. French ruling party and president chirac seem to resist turkey to satisfy public. Also there are opposite voices in germany. And they focus on that turkey is not a european country and does not share the common values. They focus on that turkey is not okey about human rights,women rights,minority rights and religious tolerance. They still have same excuses. In fact europe’s problem is different,economy is the problem. Now turkey is market of EU but after the membership we may be equal. Unemployment is increasing in Eu, especially in germany.

Iraq: there was an election a few months ago in ıraq. Shi’ies gained the election and have lots of the parliament members. After Shi’ies,kurds has around 70 parliamentary. After long discussion kurds have taken precidency and  a Shi’i  has become prime minister. Kurds have taken a step in way of independent.however some thinks that (bir zaman için bağımsızlık istekleri engellendi) Sunnies won’t be in power any more. Turkey is uncomfortable that kurds will become independent and will have a state because in future our kurds may want to be independent from turkey and the kurdish state may want our east land pieces. Iraq issues influence turkey usa relations. Relations between turkey and usa is very tense and usa does not take any steps towards PKK. And kerkuk is the central issue. Kurds in ıraq claim that kerkuk is theirs, turkey does not accept this.
