Ten Big Lies of Health Care Reform

Remember Joe Wilson catching crap for shouting out, "You Lie?" Turns our he was right…

Big Lie Number One: You Lie!

Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina made national headlines a couple of years ago when in the middle of President Obama’s health care pitch before congress he stated emphatically that health care under the health care reform law would not be extended to illegal aliens. I guess this is only a partial lie. The secret agenda recently leaked to members of the media shows that many illegals will be granted an amnesty with the soul purpose of getting them free health care.

Big Lie Number 2: The Sestack bribe.

In order to get the health care bill passed President Obama signed an executive order that would supposedly not allow federal money to be used for abortions. Now it has come to light that the Health and Human Services Department is giving Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new high-risk insurance pool that will cover any abortion that is legal in the state.

Big Lie Number 3: Savings? Really?

The big lie pushed forward by everyone who supported the PPACA was that the reason it had to be pushed through so quickly was to control the rapidly increasing costs of health care – they meant health insurance. Now here we are five months down the road and all health insurance customers – both employers and individuals are receiving notification – across the board – that health insurance premiums are increasing by 15% to 50%. Many of these increases are the largest that these employers or individuals have ever seen – and that’s saying something in a system that has increased premiums 100% over seven years.

Big Lie Number 4: We’re spending tons more of your money but it won’t cost you anything.

The law added layer upon layer of government bureaucracy. Several new government departments will exist, hiring thousands of new federal employees. It will add 16,000 new IRS agents. Millions of people will now be added to government funded health care rolls and yet the lie they wanted us all to believe was that the PPACA was “deficit neutral” – that it would add no money to the federal deficit. That has been disproved many times over since the day it was uttered from behind the teleprompter – enough said.

Big Lie Number 5: You like it, keep it….

“If you like your current health insurance plan you can keep it.” That was a whopper that ranks right up there with, “Watch my lips. No new taxes.” and “I did not have sex with that woman.” The intent was to eliminate all current plans, either by law or through attrition. Many people like their HSA high deductible policies. Those plans are illegal come 2014. Many of the benefit rich plans are already going away. Those that aren’t going away are being priced out of reach and therefore out of existence. None of this is an accident.
