The American Flag and Cross Under Attack
The phenomenon of spoiled brats trying to destroy the moral fabric of God-fearing people in the United States.
The “free to be me” and “anything goes” society we now exist in has taken the First Amendment and twisted it to meet the narcissist temperament of a new generation.
Radical civil rights groups, such as the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU, have taken up the cause of these people, to destroy the precious Freedom of Speech, fought for by the men and women in the US military. For instance, there have been many cases in court of late on the subject of crosses and the Ten Commandments displayed on territory paid for by taxpayers. People gripe, complain, and sue in court claiming that these symbols violate their civil rights because of “separation of church and state”.
When judges rule these symbols unconstitutional, they gratify the whiners, but trample on the rights of the citizens who want these symbols displayed. By appeasing those who demand the removal of these symbols, they uphold the first segment of the First Amendment by violating the second. Christians who are not offended by the cross obviously do not protest loudly enough. Judges rule on the side of those who yell the loudest, just as parents do who pay more attention to the child who cries more.
It is similar to the beliefs brought forth by Dr. Benjamin Spock about disciplining children. People who followed Dr. Spock’s way of raising children; about what disciplining your children does to their self-esteem, have produced a horde of spoiled brats. These brats believe the world is theirs to do whatever they want to do with it.
The same thing is happening to the Pledge of Allegiance. Protesters cry about the words, “one nation, under God”, in the Pledge, and claim no one should force them to recite it. In many high schools now, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is optional and most children remain seated, while a few still stand, hands on their hearts, to honor the symbol of freedom.
The majority of citizens in the United States still understand what many have sacrificed, so that we remain free. They continue to be loyal to those who died to protect those freedoms we enjoy every day. They see the flag as a symbol of that sacrifice. They do not have a problem with publicly displaying their gratitude.
It is sad that protesters of the Pledge do not know what they are missing. They do not feel pride and emotions well up from within while saying the words, “I Pledge Allegiance”. We should feel sorry for them, not be angry with them. No one can ever teach them to feel this way. If they do not feel it now, they never will. For that reason alone, we should pity them.
What is particularly disturbing is the fact that there are extremists backed by the ACLU, who believe it is their constitutional right to burn the US flag, and therefore freely exercise their Freedom of Speech.
These thoughts are most troubling because the colors of the US flag mean the following:
White: Signifies purity and innocence
Red: Hardiness and valor
Blue: Vigilance, perseverance, and justice
To those outside of these fanatics’ way of thinking, it appears that those who want to burn the flag are telling the world that they oppose honor and valor. They want to annihilate innocence, and they do not believe in justice.
The stars on the US Flag symbolize the heavens and the stripes are symbolic of the rays of light from the sun.
In essence, then, flag-burners disregard and disrespect the sun and sky by what they are doing. This is most perplexing since flag-burners are the ones who believe in global warming and in the Big Bang Theory. If they burn something that stands for what they claim they are trying to save by pushing their ‘go green’ agenda, how can anyone take them seriously? How do they make others believe them?
This brings it full circle; the flag-burners and those who want to take down all religious symbols, and those against reciting the Pledge, do not believe in what they are protesting. They only want others to see them, to pay attention to them, like the spoiled children raised with guidance from Dr. Spock.
How do we put an end to this, “give me, look at me, satisfy me” mentality? Perhaps someone should take them out back and give them a good, long spanking.

I\’ve never understood the need for compelling people to publicly recite a pledge to any nation, let alone one that has makes the reciter claim allegiance to god. Which god is it anyway?
The whole recitation seems silly and pointless at best. Why do we play the national anthem at sporting events where only American athletes are competing against one another? Is there a fear that the crowd will break out in \”God Save the Queen\”? What\’s the point? It\’s symbolism run amok and I think it does more of a disservice to the ideals enshrined in our nation\’s constitution.
If these expressions of nationalism were spontaneous perhaps they\’d be meaningful, but I\’ve never witnessed that. Why not encourage meaningful contributions to our nation like voting regularly, donating blood, marrow, organs, volunteering, lessening your dependency on non-renewable energy, visit another country to learn what works and bring back the good ideas? Flag waving and pledging allegiance seems rather narcissistic to me. It\’s embarrassing to me that we don\’t score higher on the Human Development Index. Perhaps. One would expect the mortality rate and the average life expectancy to be higher for Americans than it currently is.
Your thoughts?
