The Decline of the American Empire 4
Why America has suffered such a remarkable decline.
America practiced the “best” aspects of colonialism, while avoiding the burdens. Unlike other nations which strove to bring the exploited nation into the “system”, supplying infra-structure, America simply exploited.
There was no attempt to conquer, colonise, settle, and create an “off shore” America; it was cash and carry. This worked well in supplying American companies with raw materials and cheap labour so finished products could be sold at many times the cost of production.
Overtime, the venues used by America became less viable, as either salaries for the workers increased, local governments passed laws to give themselves a cut, and/or the factories, plantations, etc. were nationalised.
America often saw the “handwriting” on the wall, and before the final bell, moved to another venue. When Japan became too “expensive” in the 1950s, Korea and Taiwan were utilised. As these countries achieved a level of sophistication, American businesses moved into Third World nations, creating “free zones”, where locals could be exploited and tax breaks obtained.
As more nations reached the stage America had been in the 1950s/60, competition arose.
By the late 1990s America did not seem aware that China, for example, had taken over the American factories and was producing ‘American’ products under other names and selling them far cheaper.
Although there are goods produced by other nations which are inferior, some are superior; such as Toyota and one need not buy American to get “American quality”.
I am sure in your home are many goods which are made in China or Japan or India, etc. where although the “name” might be “American” the product was produced elsewhere.
By the 2000s, many American companies went out of business and/or have been purchased by foreign holdings. Though the company may be registered in America, its factories, labour force, even its owners are located in another country.
The bottom line is that there are less jobs for Americans, less profit remains in America.
Foreign corporations investment in America caused the buoyancy in the Stock Market. This might be seen as colonisation in reverse, where the exploited nations turned around, and invested in American companies, until they literally or virtually, owned them.
The errors in home lending was one of the factors in the meltdown of the American economy. Foreign investors have gotten the chance to cash in and get out or purchase the entity which is selling at far less than its value. . New investors are chary of becoming shareholders in badly run American companies, they prefer being owners.
Hence Factory X which left America and moved to China because the owners could make more profit exploiting Chinese workers, is purchased by the Chinese, who employ Chinese labour sell to Chinese as well as Third World Countries.
The import/export balance sheet of China resembles the 1950 American one, where raw materials are imported, finished products exported.
Although the great meltdown of the American economy seemed to have happened ‘overnight’ it was a long developing series of events, which can only be corrected by returning American manufacturing to America.
Simply put, Americans have no jobs, no money, so can not purchase all these goods.

I wish you had identified corporations as the source of most of these ills. There are many Americans who have been fighting what has been going on.

I think I did identify the corporations but face it, they operated with Gov. sanction. There is no question that business did not operate
completely independently of Amer. gov.
For example, much of the unrest in Central America was due to
business interests in bananas. In Africa, Liberia was virtually
owned by Firestone….As soon as a gov. nationalises an American business or refuses to allow it to continue to operate, or even terminates a contract, the next thing he becomes is an enemy and the CIA attempt to underthrow him.
